Do choose a company with units close to your business

Don’t share your key/access code
Be wise about who you share access to your unit with, and never allow someone into your unit unless you already trust them around your belongings.
Do make an inventory of what you plan to store
Making an inventory is useful for two reasons, one, it helps you determine what size unit you are going to need (check our price guide to find out what unit size is going to be right for you) and two, when you are using your unit it helps you keep organised and locate items at a later date.
Don’t store items unprotected
It is worth taking the time to properly pack and store items, to prevent any damage to them. We sell a range of packaging materials that can help with your packing.
Do organise your unit strategically
When you are organising your self-storage unit you want to ensure access is easy. You can do this by storing items and documents you are more likely to need at the front of the unit, whereas things you are going to need less frequently at the back. Do not forget to utilise the unit’s height as people often forget about storing items vertically!
Don’t forget to label your boxes
Once items are packed away it is easy to forget what you have packed and where! Use your inventory list to allocate items to boxes, then label each box with a very top level summary of what it is storing.
Do purchase insurance
At Offerfair our insurance can cover your items up to £100, but if the value of your items exceeds this amount, you will need to arrange your own insurance cover, to give you extra peace of mind that your belongings are protected.
